What is CanSkate? In a word…it's FUN!!
It
is Canada's only national learn-to-skate program and was developed by
experts in the field to teach the fundamentals of skating in a
progressive and sequential manner. It was designed to give skaters the
basic skating skills required for hockey, figure and recreational
skating.
In
this program, skaters from the age of 3 ˝ years and up, will be
evaluated on a day-to-day basis, with no formal testing. The 45-minute
program combines warm-up exercises, a 15-minute group lesson with a
professional coach, a 15-minute group lesson with a trained program
assistant and a series of cool-down exercises.
After
finishing the program, skaters will possess the skating skills
necessary to continue in their sport of choice. CanSkate is the feeder
program for all other Skate Canada programs. |
Plus
The
CanSkate Plus program is geared towards skaters who have completed
Stage 4 or higher in the CanSkate program and are interested in
continuing on to Figure Skating. This program is longer in length than
the regular CanSkate program, provides more opportunity for independent
practice and introduces skaters to more challenging elements which will
help them prepare for the more advanced StarSkate program.
*
CanSkate Plus is intended to be taken in conjunction with your regular
CanSkate program and is not available as a stand-alone program option. |
Note: CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for all skaters in levels 1-4, inclusive.
