Please WaitPower Skating
The game of hockey is evolving and now, more than ever, it is a game of speed and skill. Our powerskating programs are designed to challenge and improve all aspects of skating skills for hcokey players of all ages. We offer both Juior and Intermediate power programs.
What is Powerskating ?
Powerskating is an action-packed high energy instructional skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. Our one hour programs are professionally coached and skaters are taught skills, techniques and conditioning drills that they can apply to game situations.
Junior Powerskating is geared to skaters between the ages of six and eight years. Previous skating experience is required and skaters must be able to skate forwards and backwards in full strides the length of the ice and be able to stop on command in both directions without the use of the boards.
Intermediate Powerskating is for skaters aged nine to twelve years. Previous skating experience is required and skaters must be able to skate forwards and backwards in full strides the length of the ice and be able to stop on command in both directions without the use of the boards.
Please note that the above noted age requirements are guidelines only. Skaters may be moved up or down at the coach's discretion based on skating ability. Skaters who register in a powerskating program who do not meet the prerequisite skill requirements will be moved to Canskate program or issued a credit note to be used for future programs. No refunds will be issued.
This program is offered at the Aurora Community Centre, PAD #2.
Participants must wear CSA approved hockey helmets with face quards and full hockey/ringette equipment.
Program pricing noted above does not include a mandatory, $30.70 payment for a non-refundable Skate Canada membership fee upon their initial registration in the 2009-2010 season.
(Membership valid 01 Sep 09 - 31 Aug 10).
